N Disoza

Na D’Souja was born on June 06, 1937 at Sagar in Shimoga district. His father’s name is F.P. D’Souja, who was a primary school headmistress and mother Rupina D’Souja. D’Souza’s interest in literature was nurtured by learning verses from books written by his father to teach school children.

Na D’Souza first started writing stories for a magazine called Manabha. Later the stories written by him were published in all major newspapers. D’Souza’s first novel ‘Banje Benki’ was published in 1964. Later he wrote more than 40 novels like Manjina Kanu, Ee Nela Ijala, Red Trikona, Nele, Manava etc. His novels, which include environmental destruction, the background of the Christian race, the subject of corruption, the portrayal of backward tribes and so on, have impressed the readers. Na. D’Souja, who is especially cultivated in children’s literature, has published 12 works in various genres of children’s literature.

He has received Pampa Award, Masti Award, Karnataka Sahitya Academy Award, Karnataka Rajyotsava Award, Vardhamana Award, Mangalore Sandesh Award, Gulwadi Venkatarava Award and many other awards.
