Malgudi Museum
Malgudi Museum this is a railway station converted into a railway museum commemorating Shankaranag’s famous TV serial Malgudi Days. This museum is located in Arasalu village of Hosnagar taluk of Shimoga district.
Malgudi Museum is about 35 km from Shivamogga town and 07 km from Ripponpet. The entry fee to the museum is Rs.05 per person with ample parking space.
If you are a fan of television series Malgudi Days, you must visit this place. The famous TV serial Malgudi Days was shot in this environment. Arsalu hosted all the railway scenes that appeared in various episodes. After filming in 1986, the old station building was abandoned and fell to the vagaries of nature. South Western Railway decided to resurrect the place and recreate the nostalgia as it contributed to the creation of a legend and called in John Devaraj, sculptor and art director of Malgudi Days to restore it. The restoration was undertaken with great interest and enthusiasm. It focuses on preserving the old and true to its origins. In the artist’s words, ‘The way the sets were created for Malgudi Days, every art element in the Malgudi Museum is hand-carved and hand-carved and created with a team.
Here the items used in the serial, many photos of actors and scenes, a statue of Shankar Nag, who was the director of the serial, are all displayed.
