Vedavathi River
Vedavati river is a river in Shivamogga district and this river is one of the rivers flowing in Western Ghats of Shivamogga taluk. It flows through the Western Ghats and flows through the Karnataka and Andhra regions where it joins the Tungabhadra River.
The ‘Veda’ river, which originates near Sakharayapatnam in Chikkamagaluru district, is joined by ‘Aavati Halla’, which flows from Madagadakere near Kadur, and flows further as ‘Vedavati river’.
Sir M. in Marikanive near Hiriyur. The first dam built by Visvesvaraya, ‘Vanivilasasagara’, was built across the river Vedavati. From there it flows further and flows into ‘Hagari river’ near Andhra Pradesh and then merges with Tungabhadra river. Before that a river called ‘Suvarnamukhi’ joins this river.
Shivamogga is surrounded by beautiful natural spots including waterfalls, forests and hills, making it a favorite destination for nature lovers and trekkers. The serene atmosphere and pleasant climate of this region attracts tourists from different parts of the country.
