Linganamakki Dam

Linganamakki Dam was constructed in 1964 by the Karnataka State Government. This dam is built across the river Sharavati in Kargal village of Sagar taluk with a length of 2.74 km. Linganamakki Reservoir is about 9 km from Joga Falls. And it is 403 km from Bangalore and 101 km from Shimoga.

The purpose behind constructing this dam is to provide irrigation facilities in the area and help in supplying clean drinking water. It has eleven gates or gates. There is also a hydroelectric plant set up next to this dam.

Designed to hold 4368 million cubic meters of water in an area of ​​about 300 km2 (116 sq mi), submerging 50.62 km2 (20 sq mi) of wetland and 7 km2 (3 sq mi) of dry land, the rest being forest. land and wasteland. The height of the dam is 1,819 feet above sea level.
