Mani Dam

Across the Varahi River is a hydroelectric dam known as the Mani Dam (built near Manibail village). Power generation takes place underground. 375 km from Bangalore. is far away. It is 90 km from Shimoga. And it is about 29 km away from Theerthahalli.

Mani Dam Site Power House consists of 2 x 4.5 MW generating units with vertical Kaplan type turbines manufactured by M/s Ganj Mawag. and M/s. Hungary’s Ganz Electric Co was established in 1993-94. The units are designed for a head of 22.5 m.

Varahi River is a river flowing in the Western Ghats and originates at Hebbagilu near Agumbe in Shimoga district. The river has a total length of 66 km and a basin area of ​​about 759 sq km.
