Surabhi, a sacred cow, used to give milk to the stone idol of Sri Ranganatha. Now a temple has been built at the same place. The place was called Surabhipura in ancient times, which changed to Soraba over the centuries. One can visit the Ranganathaswamy temple of Sorabad which is famous for Purana. The temple is believed to have been built by a Gauda native of Halesoraba from the bay of Dandavathi river. Several manuscripts and inscriptions supporting this have been found near the temple.
