P Lankesh
P Lankesh was born on March 8, 1935 in Konagavalli village of Shivamogga district. He was a writer, editor, producer, poet, playwright, teacher, actor and director. Studied High School and Intermediate (Sahyadri College) in Shimoga. Bangalore Central College B.A. degree and M.A. from University of Mysore. (English) Degree.
P Lankesh started his career as an English teacher in Sahyadri College in 1959. He continued there till 1962. He was a professor at Bangalore Central College and Government College from 1962 to 1965 and at Bangalore University from 1966 to 1978.
Around 1979, Lankesh gave up his teaching career and started his own Lankesh Weekly. Lankesh is the founding editor of the magazine. P. Lankesh is one of the famous writers of Kannada. P. Lankesh poet, storyteller, novelist, columnist, dramatist, actor, director – such a versatile personality. Lankesh, who made a name for himself as a journalist, became famous as a playwright. He has given many plays to theatre.
His efficient translation was also one of the reasons why the Greek drama Oedipus was successful in the open air theater of Kalakshetra. Also his own plays like “Teregu” and “Sankranti” are milestones in drama literature. His novels became twilight story arcs and rifak, rifak drama. Pallavi, Anurup, and Elildho Bhaidu are films directed by him.
Lankesha has written successful short stories, Bicchumanasa and Monachi. The movie Pallavi got the National Award. Received Provincial Award for Conformity.
