According to the story behind the origin of this temple, Siganduri has a history of about 300 years. A man named Sesappa went to the forest one day for the purpose of hunting, but he got lost in the forest and so he decided to take rest. While resting under a tree, Mother Sigandureswari appeared in his dream and asked him to build a temple for her. He went and told his experience to a Brahmin named “Duggajja” in his village. Finally, both of them built a temple together and Seshappa became the managing trustee as the priest of Duggajja temple.
