Lakshmi Narasimha Temple
Bhadravati Lakshmi Narasimha Temple is a Hindu temple located in Bhadravati taluk of Shimoga district. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu dating back to the 13th century. The presiding deity of the Lakshmi Narasimha temple in Bhadravati is Narasimha, known as the protector of mankind and destroyer of demons and evil spirits.
The temple is located at a distance of 20 kilometers from Shimoga city and 4.5 kilometers from Bhadravati town. The nearest railway station to this temple is Shimoga Railway Station which is 20.6 kilometers and the nearest airport is Shimoga Airport which is 14.6 kilometers away.
The Kshmi Narasimha Temple was built by the Hoysala ruler Vira Someswara. It has three sanctuaries. Each sanctum sanctorum is dedicated to Venogopala, Lakshminarasimha and Vishnu-Purushottam. It is notable for its Vesara architecture, with artwork featuring legends and deities from Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Shaktaism and Vedic deities. Major reliefs include Ganesha, Dakshinamurti, Bhairava, Saraswati, Brahma, Surya, Harihara (half Shiva, half Vishnu) and others. The original shikaras of the temple were destroyed. Restored with conical structure.
