Kodachadri

Kodachadri is a densely forested mountain peak in the Western Ghats of South India. Its height is 1,343 meters above sea level. It is 78 km from Shimoga. Kodachadri is the highest peak in Shimoga district. It has been declared as a natural heritage site by the Government of Karnataka. It is the 13th highest peak in Karnataka.

Kodachadri forms the backdrop to the Mookambika temple in Kollur. It is 21 km from Kollur in Hosanagar taluk and 15 km from Nagodi village. There are various ways to reach the peak of Kodachadri and the difficulty is high regarding the chosen route. However, reaching the peak during monsoon is challenging due to heavy rainfall.

Kodachadri receives annual rainfall ranging from 500 cm to 750 cm and it rains for about eight months in a year. Kodachadri is famous for its spectacular sunrises and sunsets.
